Privacy policy
Unload is a browser extension that helps you clean up your Gmail. This policy explains precisely what it reads, what leaves your computer, and what is never kept.
Limited Use
Unload's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or allow humans to read it, except with your explicit permission to resolve a support request you have raised.

Filters Unload creates are visible and removable by you in Gmail's own settings. Unload does not read, change or delete filters it did not create, and never touches forwarding, delegation, signatures or vacation responders.
Unload never permanently deletes mail. Deleting moves messages to Gmail's Trash, where Google keeps them for about 30 days. Unload does not empty your Trash and cannot bypass it. You can also choose to apply a review label instead of deleting, which changes nothing else.
Unload never reads the body of your emails. Messages are requested in Gmail's metadata format, which returns headers only. Attachments are never accessed.
What leaves your computer
Unload groups your mail by sender and builds a short summary of each sender. That summary is the only thing sent to our server:
- The sender's address and domain
- How many messages they have sent you, and over what period
- What proportion you have opened
- Whether their mail carries an unsubscribe header
- Which Gmail category they land in
- Up to five subject lines, as examples of what they send
Our server passes that summary to TypeSafe AI, whose model returns a judgement about whether the sender is safe to unsubscribe from and whether its archive is safe to clear. Your message contents, recipients, message identifiers and email address are not included and are not sent.

We operate no database. Our server keeps no record of which senders you have, what your subject lines say, or which account made a request. Web server request logging is disabled, and application logs record only counts and timings.
Your Google tokens pass through our server once, when they are first issued and each time they are renewed. This is required because Google will not issue a refresh token directly to a browser extension. They are relayed back to your browser and are not written to disk.
Withdrawing access
You can disconnect Unload at any time from your Google account permissions page. Doing so immediately and permanently ends its access. Removing the extension from your browser deletes the tokens stored on your device.
Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing further for us to delete. If you would like written confirmation of that, email us.
Children
Unload is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is read or where it goes, we will update the date above and describe the change on this page before the change takes effect.
